Black Mask (US version)
Sound: Dolby 5.1
Extras: trailers, cast/crew bios, production notes, music video, trivia game
This is a very nice DVD. The picture and sound are a lot nicer than the HK version, though the music is still a bit too loud in the mix for my taste. As for the dubbing, it's cheesy at points (especially Karen Mok's voice, but she has an annoying voice anyhow) but thankfully it's well-done for the most part. The extras are really nothing great -- most HK fans will already know most of the information contained in the bios and production notes. But it's nice to see a US version of a Jet Li movie with something other than a 30-second preview trailer on it (are you listening, Dimension?). This disc's cheap price makes this a solid buy for Jet Li fans. An interesting point is that this version actually has more violence than the HK version, but there are also some other cuts.
