Code of Honor

AKA: Triad Savages, Brotherhood

1987

Director: Billy Chan

Stars: Chung Hung, Chow Yun-Fat, Danny Lee, Shing Fui-On, Dick Wei

An old dai lo (Chung Hung) is looking back on his life and wants to start to do some good to patch things up with his son (Chow Yun-Fat). Before his plan is put into action, the crime boss is captured by the police. Sensing weakness in the organization, a group of Japanese Yakuza start to move in, which prompts Chow to take over the "business."

This is a fairly decent crime movie. The action is well-done and very violent, but the expostion scenes are slow moving, talky, and really slow the film down. Chow Yun-Fat fans looking for another A Better Tomorrow will probably be disappointed -- despite his top billing, Chow is only in the movie for a relatively short time. While Code of Honor isn't a bad movie, there are a lot of other movies in this genre which are better and more deserving of your time and money.
