Great General
1978; directed by Ting Chung

This is a decent old-school kung fu flick which stars Mang Hoi as the titular general, who is defending China from that often-used enemy of 1970's Chinese martial arts pictures, those damn nasty Japanese. A standard effort -- namely, an unoriginal plot and okay, but very workmanlike and generic fight scenes -- that was unfortunately brought down a couple of notches more in this reviewer's eyes due to the terrible presentation delivered on the sub-par DVD from budget semi-bootleg label Videoasia. However, as is the case with many of these sorts of "forgotten" movies, this seems to be the only "legitimate" (that term must be used loosely when dealing with any release from Videoasia) source for North American home video.
