After being a mainstay of B-movies for the better part of a decade, Cynthia Rothrock has dropped off the radar over the past few years in order to take care of her child. If Outside the Law is any indication, perhaps Rothrock should concentrate more on motherhood rather than acting. It's just a dull movie from beginning to end, and even die-hard Rothrock fans will be hard-pressed to find something of interest in it.

The plot has Rothrock as an officer for an unnamed governmental agency. During a drug operation in South America, her team is set up and she goes on the run. Taking a cue from China O'Brien, she comes into a small town run by a drug runner (Jeff Wincott) and decides to clean things up. Everything here is by-the-numbers; there's no annoying little kid, but there is an annoying little dog. The acting is surprisingly good, but the script is simply horrible. Originally made for TV, the movie looks like it had the budget of the producer's credit card which reached its' limit long ago.

Now, you might be thinking the action might save the day, but you would be wrong. First off, there isn't very much of it. A word to people making films like this -- viewers aren't watching them for Oscar-caliber acting, they're watching them for ass-kicking. Though if there was more of the "action" featured in here, it would be an excercise in futility. Rothrock herself looks to have been heavily doubled, and the no-names featured in here don't do much better. Save yourself some time and money and skip this clunker.
