One of the all-time classics of the 8-bit era, Super Mario Bros. 3 is really a no-brainer download if you're a fan of the platforming genre at all, especially considering its' 500 point price tag. Even though it is over twenty years old now, it's still one of the shining examples of the genre and fun as hell to play.

Super Mario Bros. 3 does everything a game sequel should, retaining the core gameplay that made the original so successful, while adding in new elements that enhance the experience. SMB3 is notable for including powerups (such as the raccoon suit) that have become standards in the series, as well as introducing the overworld map system that allows players to re-try levels at their leisure. In fact, many of the levels won't be able to be fully explored and beaten until the player learns the proper techniques or has enough lives and/or power-ups. This ends up being a technique which gives SMB3 a great amount of replay, as you're always getting the sense that there's just one more little thing to discover.

If you're one of the rare old-school gamers out there who has never experienced this entry in the Mario series, you're going to be in for a big treat.
